RE: Campfire and smoke alarms??

I keep my door shut for that reason. Seems like I can have the windows and vents open, but if I have the door open the alarm will go off on occasion....but not with the door closed.

burning rubber smell

I have a '99 f350 dually. Not every tow or haul but sometimes I will get a strong burning rubber smell coming out of the driver side fenderwell over the duallies. Nothing from the passenger side. The next time I won't. Any ideas? My tows are pretty easy, very flat and not a lot of stop and go conditions.

RE: Getting wheels off ground

You said the tires have to stay on due to county regs. I would just put down some gravel under the tires, even a bag of decorative gravel/river rock under each tire and cover the tires.

RE: Water leaking from connection

YES,definitely pump off and relieve pressure by opening a faucet. If you don't, you will most definitely be replacing the whole hook-up. At least I did.

RE: Ride improvement advice needed

Listen to BIGPUNN........You eventually have to throw some money toward your setup but first begin with your pin weight. We had the same chucking or porpoising what ever anyone wants to call it and a full fresh water tank to add pin weight does just fine for us.

RE: backing up over a curb

I just drive over mine slowly.......my TT set low so I had to watch my sewer lines, the fiver is plenty high. Our curbs are about 5 inches high. They are straight up and down but have a slight angle back. Have been backing over them for years without problems with the trailer or trucks tires. Just be sure of clearance.

RE: Vent Caulk

It's Dicor self leveling caulking. Comes in a tube that you put in a caulking gun.

RE: Wax and decals

I do what my manual says and avoid putting wax on the decals. I've heard of people waxing them without issue but I figure better safe than sorry. It's a pain but we avoid them and use 303 Protectant on them.

RE: Do I have a leak?

If it's every 20 minutes or so I would suspect a small leak somewhere. I'm certainly not an expert but when I experienced a similar pattern of cycling I had a very small leak in the h2o line going into the toilet. Never would have known it otherwise. It was in the connectors between the lines.

RE: Black Streaks

Mike, loved your response..........and you're absolutely right. Anyway, I just tackled this project and tried Awesome after being suggested on this forum. I mixed 5 parts h2o to 1 part Awesome on a fibreglass sided trailer. Worked good I thought. I'm glad you made this post because it just reminded me I forgot to wax one side...........gotta go.

RE: Information Please

Sounds like a heck of a deal...........I'd do like Mark advised. Looks like MSRP of almost 79,000. That's over 30% off.

RE: Having second thoughts

MNtundraret was reading my mind.......if you are worrying and it sounds like you might be, if it were me I would be content with your current trailer for the time being and use the money you would be putting on a 5th wheel payment for gas money.

RE: Black Tank Misreading!

Well I can only give you what I have experienced. Only once that I know of have my sensor on the black tank messed up. I added dawn dish detergent(original), and filled black tank about half way with water. We drove back home, and the next weekend the sensor was working. Worked for us that time anyway.

RE: Little help PLEASE...

Denny, are you talking about the bypass valve for winterizing? If so, remember not all water heaters have those. In my '95 Layton, the WH was located under the dinette bench seat. The valve was right there behind the water heater. I would guess that if it is not next to the water heater it does not have.....only because I've never seen them located away from the WH.

RE: Seasonal non-electric site. Leave fridge on?

Your solar panel should keep the batteries charged enough run the fridge and the detector. I think the 15 watt panel will do it.....won't it guys?
